Community So Far Rejects Soccer Pitch for Belair

A plan for soccer pitches at the old Belair Golf Course in the Adelaide Hills is failing to get public support.
The State Government has released its draft plan for 51 hectares at the south-west corner of the site, which includes plans for a 7-pitch soccer field and a Sturt Lions Football clubroom onsite (taking up about 10 hectares all up), along with walking and mountain bike trails.
Since the start of February, community members have been providing feedback on the Belair National Park project via the Government’s Get Involved website.
Of the 114 respondents so far, the majority said they are against the idea of establishing soccer pitches and clearing land in the country’s second oldest national park to do so.
